Hi Wallis! My understanding is that alcohol is added to witch hazel extract as a preservative; while alcohol-free versions use a different preservative system. Those with extra sensitive or dry skin may find regular witch hazel with alcohol more drying, while those with oily or acne-prone skin may find it beneficial. Conversely, alcohol-free toners are nice for super sensitive or extra dry skin types. :)]]></description>
