In reply to <a href="https://thenerdyfarmwife.com/pineapple-sage-uses/#comment-99430">Lori</a>.

Hi Lori! Where we live (zone 7) I also have problems with pineapple sage not wanting to bloom until very late in the season!
I would go ahead and pick some leaves - not all from one spot, but in different places all over the plants so as to not stress any one area.
And have some blankets or a frost cloth handy & when the local weather starts forecasting first frosts, cover up your plants & that will help them survive for longer & they still might reward you with some blooms! :)

Just found your site and all this wonderful information. I planted two pineapple sage plants early this year (June 2024) for the first time, zone 5 b I believe- Western New York. The plants are huge but have not yet flowered ,September 23 now. I will try drying leaves for tea but am wondering if it makes a difference if I pick the leaves before the plants flower ? I don’t see and buds on them at all yet? Thanks for your input!
