Hi Sarah! You sure can add a tincture (and astragalus root is an excellent choice). The main thing is to take care doing it, since it might sputter and splatter quite a bit as the alcohol meets the heat. Keep a lid handy in case you have to pop it over the pan for a few seconds while it settles down.
