Because it is completely dried and with no water content left (which is where bacteria/mold would grow), this scrub doesn&#039;t require a preservative. Once moisture is introduced though, it needs to be used right away.
So if you&#039;re not sure it will be carefully handled and stay dry (if you&#039;re giving as a gift or something), then preservative may be a good idea to add.
I would probably try adding some Phytocide Elderberry OS, mixed in with the carrier oil.
It&#039;s oil soluble (so you&#039;re not adding any water to the dry scrub) and as a bonus, it&#039;s good for your skin. :)
